In front of a sparse Summerfest-suppressed crowd, the Brewers and Jimmy Nelson beat the Mets and Bartolo Colon at Miller Park tonight. Nelson was spectacular, giving up only 1 run on 2 hits and a walk in 8 innings, which translates to about 7 innings and 2 runs allowed against Not the Mets. The only trouble was a home run from Curtis Granderson in the 4th, and he did not give up a hit after that. Francisco Rodriguez gave up a hit in the 9th but converted his 15th save in 15 chances.

The Brewers got 2 in the first inning on RBIs by Ryan Braun and Adam Lind, though they should have had more as they had Lind and Braun on second and third with nobody out. Carlos Gomez drove in a third run in the 6th and Scooter Gennett added a helpful insurance run with a home run to right in the 6th. The defense was also impressive on the night, highlighted by a spectacular play by Gennett to throw out Lucas Duda at first base in the top of the 7th.
