Win: Hoover (6-0)
Loss: Rodriguez (0-3)
Save: Chapman (25)
HR: Bruce (19), Frazier (30), Votto (25)
For everything that's gone wrong this year, the one thing that has been consistent has been Francisco Rodriguez not blowing a single save. But it's the 20-dang-15 Brewers season, and good things can't keep happening. So, Saturday, Rodriguez blew his first game of the season.
The Brewers had a 9-8 lead going into the final inning, but Rodriguez gave up four runs -- including a two-run homer to Joey Votto -- to blow the lead and blow the game.
Also of note: The Brewers starting pitching continues to be basically the worst thing ever. Matt Garza gave up 11 hits and a walk over just 3.2 innings, resulting in seven runs. Garza had a decent string of starts recently, but has had two DREADFUL starts in a row. He's back up to a 5.56 ERA now.
The Brewers' offense had a nice day, at least. Scooter Gennett went 4-5 with a triple, three runs and three RBI. Jean Segura was 3-5 with a double and three runs scored. Jonathan Lucroy (who also had a triple) and Adam Lind also had a pair of hits apiece.
The Reds and Brewers go again Sunday, with first pitch at 1:10 CT.
