Win: Peralta (5-8)
Loss: Lamb (0-3)
Save: Rodriguez (31)
HR: Braun (24)
Wily Peralta has been suffering through a tough year. Since the start of August, he has a 6.12 ERA while allowing a .894 opponent OPS. But Peralta came out strong today with one of his best starts in 2015.
Over seven innings, Peralta allowed just one run on seven hits. His control was on the mark as he did not give up a single walk, but struck out six batters. His last time out, Peralta looked like he was hurting and struggling to even pitch normally. A start like Sunday's inspires more confidence. This year has been rough, but if Peralta can finish strong it will help salvage the season for him.
The Brewers got out to an early lead when Ryan Braun hit a solo homer in the first inning. The Reds tied it up quickly, but Milwaukee re-took the lead in the third when Jonathan Lucroy drove in Martin Maldonado. Two more runs in the eighth inning helped seal it as Francisco Rodriguez came back from a blown save to lock it down in the ninth this time.
The Brewers get an off day Monday before starting a series with the Pirates Tuesday.
