Brewers Starting Pitcher: Wily Peralta
Opponent Starting Pitcher: Jaime Garcia
Winning Pitcher: Jaime Garcia
Losing Pitcher: Wily Peralta
SV: Trevor Rosenthal (33)
HR: Matt Carpenter (16)
The Cardinals scored their first run via a blast from Matt Carpenter in the first inning. Their second run came from a bloop in the second inning. Mark Reynolds lined a double and came into score off a bloop by Stephen Piscotty. Another run would driven in by Piscotty in the seventh inning.
Wily Peralta lasted seven innings allowing three runs on five hits and one walk. He looked a little shaky in the early goings but settled down nicely before allowing the third run in his final inning. At one point he had retired 13 Cardinals batters in a row. His velocity remained strong all game and even though he allowed the 3 runs and only struck out 2 batters he did look a lot better than his last outing.
The Brewers offense just couldn't get things going today. They had 5 walks but only 2 hits. Only once did they have a runner in scoring position. They also hit into two double plays. A rough night was only made worse by the fact that it's the Brewers second game in a row being shut out by the Cards.
This loss brings the season record down to 47-65.
