WP: Jorge Lopez (1-0)
LP: Tyson Ross (10-12)
SV: Francisco Rodriguez (38)
HR: Jean Segura (6)
Jorge Lopez may only get one MLB start this season, but he took advantage of it.
After a successful run in the minors this year, Jorge Lopez got a shot in the majors to finish off the year. While it wasn't a great start, he pitched well enough for the Brewers to win. He pitched five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and two runs. He also had seven strikeouts in the game.
Meanwhile, the Brewers offense came together with enough runs to get him the win. The Brewers struck first in the first inning, with Adam Lind and Jean Segura each driving in a run. The Padres would retake the lead with runs in the third and fourth innings, but Segura would bring in two more runs with a home run in the sixth inning to give the Brewers the lead for good.
Despite only collecting seven hits in the game, the Brewers made the most of them. Jean Segura had a great day for the Brewers, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored. Scooter Gennett also had two hits in the game.
With the Brewers taking a 4-3 lead, they turned the game over to the bullpen to close it out, Yhonathan Barrios pitched a perfect sixth inning, Jeremy Jeffress allowed just one hit in two innings, and Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth to get the save.
The Brewers continue their series in San Diego tomorrow night. Zach Davies will make his final start of the season and will face Andrew Cashner. First pitch is at 9:10 pm.
