TIED. It was a back and forth vote with just a couple of minutes left, and at 11:58 am Demi Orimoloye grabbed his 126th vote to draw even with Monte Harrison. This is an election year, and the great state of Iowa has taught us that there's only one logical way to break a tie of such magnitude: flip a dang coin. It landed tails, which never fails, and so Monte Harrison is your choice for the No. 14 spot. Look, if it's good enough for something as silly as, say, choosing the next President of the United States, it's good enough for us.
So, is today finally the day for #TeamDemi? Or will Harrison's votes consolidate on another candidate? Perhaps they'll even choose to vote for our newest addition to the poll, 3B Garin Cecchini, the erstwhile Top 100 prospect from the Red Sox organization. Your list so far:
1. SS Orlando Arcia | 11. LHP Kodi Medeiros |
2. OF Brett Phillips | 12. SS Isan Diaz |
3. RHP Jorge Lopez | 13. OF Clint Coulter |
4. OF Trent Clark | 14. OF Monte Harrison |
5. LHP Josh Hader | 15. ??? |
6. SS Gilbert Lara | 16. |
7. C Jacob Nottingham | 17. |
8. RHP Cody Ponce | 18. |
9. RHP Zach Davies | 19. |
10. RHP Devin Williams | 20. |
Some updates: I've removed the MLB Pipeline ranks, since no one left is ranked yet (They're releasing the NL Central lists on the 24th, but they're also counting down the top ten organizations starting March 1, and there's a good chance the Brewers are among that group). John Sickels updated his list to include Nottingham (who he ranked fourth) and Isan Diaz (sixth), so those ranks are updated below as well. Also, Keith Law released his top 100last week: it included four Brewers (the same as our top for above) plus a fifth, Michael Reed, was included on his "just missed" article. Keith Law also released his organizational top 20 on Tuesday (ESPN Insider is required to view all those articles).
Again, if you need a little guidance, here are the organizational lists that have been released up to this point. Our list will of course supersede all of them as the definitive Brewers prospects ranking once complete:
Minor League Ball
Baseball America
Baseball Prospectus: 1-10, 11-20
ESPN/Keith Law
Voting will be live until the following day (or Monday, for polls posted on Friday) at noon for each poll in this countdown. If at any point there's a player you would have voted for and think others would as well, just let me know in the comments.
