Plan Your Summer: The best Brewers affiliate promotions of 2016

Like a number of you fine BCB folks, I volunteered to take on a spring training game recap, and I am on for next week. I have thought about doing a fanpost a time or two before, but honestly, this publishing format kind of overwhelmed me. I don't want to be wasting time messing up next Thursday while thousands of you are awaiting crucial Cactus League coverage, so I thought I would try one of these first and see how it went.

If you are like me, you are obsessively excited about the Brewers minor league affiliates this year. Every publication considers us a top ten minor league system this year, and with more trades likely and a top five draft pick, the system should get even better.

I live in Wisconsin, and most of my family is in the Midwest. The Timber Rattlers play in the Midwest League, and class A outposts like Cedar Rapids, the Quad Cities, Clinton and Peoria are all conveniently located in my territory. The Timber Rattlers should include players like Trent Clark, Demi Orimoloye, Gilbert Lara, Monte Harrison, Jacob Gatewood and probably other exciting prospects as well. I am really, really, really hoping to see them in person at least a couple times.

Perhaps you too live in the Badger State. Or maybe you live elsewhere but hope to see some of our future multiple World Series winning players. I thought I'd check out the goofy minor league promotions our Brewers affiliates are offering and suggest some favorites.

AAA, Colorado Springs Sky Sox: July 2, Rick Sweet bobblehead night. Rick Sweet is a long time Brewers minor league manager, and a former Ueckeresque major league catcher. It should be a fun bobblehead, whether it is major leaguer Sweet or manager Sweet.

AA, Biloxi Shuckers: Surprisingly, the Shuckers don't seem to have a full promotional schedule out. But you might want to plan to attend Education Day, April 20. If you have always wanted to watch Clint Coulter and Victor Roache while hanging out with hundreds of crazy school kids at 10:00 in the morning, this is your chance.

A+, Brevard County Manatees: The Manatees organization seems to be on it's last legs, so I was surprised to find a very full promo schedule. Events such as Catholic Diocese Night, Florida Department of Emergency Management Night and Main Street Night featuring Executive Cigar should draw thousands, but perhaps the best is that every Saturday game will feature knockerball. Space Coast Stadium might not be around much longer, so if you have ever wanted to jump around the field in a giant ball, here's your chance.

A, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers: The TRats feature an insane amount of promotions and are known for marketing efforts including disgusting and/or delicious meat items. At least twelve games will include giveaways with characters on them. Of course, there has to be a Hank the Dog Bobblehead. Now departed Brewers Khris Davis and Jason Rogers are featured. Future stars Jake Gatewood and Orlando Arcia are also, and the team is really banking on Arcia with both a bobblehead and t-shirt giveaway. You'll want to mark down the June 7 game against the Lumber Kings for sure, as a Helmet Toothbrush holder will be yours if you attend.

Rookie, Helena Brewers: Helena's season doesn't start until mid-June, so it isn't too surprising that there aren't any promotions on their website yet. I did, however, learn about dates in 2013 where you can ride your bike to the game and they will give a donation to a bike trail. You can also purchase some cool souvenirs on their website, including this 2007 team baseball card set featuring such Brewers luminaries as Donovan Hand, Caleb Gindl and Matt LaPorta.

All joking aside, following the Brewers system should be a TON of fun this year, even if we don't win the Cactus Cup.
