Well this was quite the long game. The Brewers and Braves went 13 innings today. Unlike the last extra inning game though, Milwaukee walked away with the win. Junior Guerra continued to impress. He tossed 5 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits and 4 walks. He also struck out 6 batters. This raised his K/9 to an even 9.00 and lowered his ERA to 3.30 and FIP to 3.14. The Athletics' Rich Hill is getting all the press, but the Brewers seem to have found their own diamond in the rough, feel good story.
Six more pitchers combined for a total of 8 innings pitched. Michael Blazek walked away with the win, his third of the season. Carlos Torres notched the save, the third of his career.
Offense was pretty scattered for the Brew Crew. They scored one run in the fifth inning and their second in the eighth. The winning run of course came in the top of the thirteenth. Jonathan Villar was responsible for two of the RBI and Kirk Nieuwenhuis the other. The winning run was Villar's.
The two teams are back at it again tomorrow at 6:10 pm as the Brewers try to get the sweep. Wily Peralta takes on Matthew Wisler.
