Jimmy Nelson finishes 9th in National League Cy Young voting
Yesterday, the BBWAA announced their picks for the Cy Young Award in each league: Corey Kluber in the AL and Max Scherzer in the NL. The writers released the full voting results on the BBWAA website, and down the ballot we find a connection to our beloved local nine: Jimmy Nelson of the Milwaukee Brewers, with a 9th place finish. Nelson appeared on one ballot, getting voted for 5th place by Sahadev Sharma of the Athletic. Nelson was a breakout star for the Brewers this season, posting a 3.49 ERA and a 76 DRA- across 175.1 innings pitched before a shoulder season ended his season prematurely and put his 2018 in jeopardy. You can read more about Nelson's successes in 2017 in this post from our MVBrewers series. (Statistics courtesy of Baseball Prospectus)
