What We Learned: Quiet meetings this year

New, 58 comments

While a lot of rumors were floating around at this year’s Winter Meetings, very little happened in terms of transactions. We recap the meetings and more in today’s What We Learned.

MLB: Winter Meetings Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Winter Meetings have come and gone, but in what has been a quiet offseason, the Brewers chose to not make any moves right away. Plenty of rumors were flying around during the meetings, though. Domingo Santana received a lot of attention, but the attention may have been more on the Brewers side than other teams. Chris Archer’s name was brought up a few times. Plenty of other rumors were flying around as well, and the Brewers had reportedly made some offers. However, as the meetings drew to a close, nothing had happened yet, so we are about back to where we were before the meetings. Plenty of rumors going around, but no actual moves to talk about yet.

Though it may be tempting to panic as the Brewers stay put, it’s important to remember that there’s still plenty of time to go in the offseason. Though there were some signings and trades during the meetings, the majority of the top free agents are still available, and there are still plenty of trade partners out there. It’s not time to panic on anything just yet. Let’s wait and see how things play out over the next few weeks.
