The Brewers have spent this weekend facing the three most recent World Series champions. On Friday, the 2015 champion Royals came in and took a win away. Yesterday, the 2016 champion Cubs came to Maryvale to play, and the Brewers drubbed them in a show of offense. Today, the Brewers travel to play the champions from 2010, 2012, and 2014, the San Francisco Giants.
It’s Zach Davies getting the start today, and he got beat up in his last start this spring. Against the Reds, he pitched four innings and allowed three runs on three hits and two walks. Overall, he has allowed four runs in ten innings this spring with nine strikeouts and two walks.
On the other side, it’s familiar foe Jeff Samardzija on the hill. Samardzija has been roughed up quite a bit this spring, and his 9.82 ERA reflects that. In his last start, he allowed seven runs (five earned) to the Rangers in just 3 2⁄3 innings.
