A matchup against the worst team so far in the Cactus league is all it took to get the Brewers back on track.
Keon Broxton was the star of the day, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored in the game. He had a three-run home run in the fifth inning, and also scored on a Jonathan Villar RBI triple in the third. Hernan Perez also added on a solo home run in the win.
Six of the nine starters recorded a hit in the game, and eleven different Brewers in total reached base at least once. Mauricio Dubon added on an RBI single in the eighth inning, and Rene Garcia had an RBI double to round out the scoring.
On the pitching side, Zach Davies went two scoreless innings in his second start, walking two batters but allowing no further damage beyond that. Brent Suter, Rob Scahill, Andy Oliver, Aaron Wilkerson, and Paolo Espino also got some work in the game, with Oliver allowing the lone run. The pitching staff combined to allow a total of just five hits and three walks in the game, in addition to the one run.
The Brewers are at home in Maryvale again tomorrow, this time taking on the 5-4 Rockies. Tommy Milone will make his spring debut for the Brewers, facing Chad Bettis, who is also making his spring debut. First pitch is at 2:05 pm.
