Junior Guerra to begin rehab assignment

11

Milwaukee Brewers' ace Junior Guerra suffered a strained right calf after pitching three innings during his start on Opening Day five weeks ago. He recently began performing agility drills and live throwing, and today it was reported that he's ready to begin a rehab assignment. He'll start on Monday the 15th for the AA Biloxi Shuckers and be allowed to go to 75 pitches. Craig Counsell said earlier today on 105.7 FM in Milwaukee that Guerra would make "at least two" rehab starts. If he starts on Monday, that would line him up for a 2nd minor league start on the 20th and potentially make for a May 25th return to the big leagues, assuming all goes well. Guerra allowed two earned runs in 3 innings on Opening Day and posted a 2.81 ERA/3.71 FIP in 120.2 innings for the Brewers last season. (Statistics courtesy of Fangraphs)
