Milwaukee Brewers remove Jonathan Villar from leadoff spot

24

Jonathan Villar was given the day off during yesterday's game, and before the contest manager Craig Counsell told reporters that he was considering removing him from the leadoff spot. "We're not at the start of the season anymore," Counsell noted when discussing Villar's struggles. Today, Villar is back in the lineup at second base but will hit 7th, in front of Orlando Arcia. Villar was a breakout star last season, posting an .826 OPS with 19 homers and 62 steals. He turned down an extension worth a reported $20 mil this past winter, but has struggled all season and his current slash line is just .213/.285/.330 with 5 homers and 12 steals.
