What We Learned: Leashes are getting shorter

It was a rough day overall for the Brewers as they got pummeled by the Pirates. We look at that and more in today’s What We Learned.

Brewers News and Notes

Not every day can be pleasant for the team. Yesterday was just one of those days where about everything was bad. Matt Garza had a rough start, allowing four runs in 5 13 innings. Wily Peralta had an equally rough appearance, allowing four runs in an inning of work. The offense was shut down by Gerrit Cole as well. Nights like this happen, though you have to wonder how many more chances Wily Peralta will have.

In the meantime, the Brewers remain in the 9-10 range of many MLB power rankings polls. Jonathan Villar is nearing his return as a rehab assignment could be coming. On the other side, Brandon Woodruff will need more than the minimum 10 days on the DL. Neftali Feliz is officially a free agent after the Brewers couldn’t trade him. On a happier note, Jake Gatewood won the Carolina League Hitting Challenge as part of their All-Star festivities.
