Brewers News and Notes

The Pirates series didn’t open up well. After the Brewers got pummeled on Monday, they got pummeled early on Tuesday to lose two in a row. They were down again last night as well, but a late Domingo Santana homer gave the Brewers a 4-3 lead, and they held on from there for the win.

Meanwhile, Brent Suter is with the team again, being activated before yesterday’s game as Wily Peralta went on the disabled list. Peralta had been hit hard in Monday’s game, giving up four runs in an inning of work. He has been struggling all season, and the timing of this is a little...convenient. We don’t know the severity of the injury, only the team doctors know, and maybe it was something he could have pitched through. However, this will give him a chance to rest, and then he’ll likely end up in an extended rehab assignment somewhere to see if he can get back on track. If the rehab goes well, he may get another chance. If not...well, he might go from the DL to DFA.

In other injury news, Ryan Braun and Jonathan Villar are both headed to Appleton for rehab assignments. If you’re in the Appleton area, you may want to head out for a Timber Rattlers game. Also in minor league news, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox are being reclassified to a rookie league team as San Antonio moves up to a Triple-A team. This leaves the Brewers looking for a new minor-league affiliation starting in 2019, and likely heading to Fresno.
