It looked like the Brewers were going to enter the Reds series fairly healthy. Ryan Braun and Jonathan Villar were returning, putting this roster in a better position than it has been in a while. Unfortunately, that good feeling didn’t last long, as another injury came up.
In Wednesday’s game, with Chase Anderson batting in the second inning, he hurt his oblique on a swing and had to come out of the game. He went on the DL on Thursday, and is expected to miss at least a month, if not longer. The replacement for Anderson is not known yet, as Jorge Lopez was initially brought up to replace Anderson’s roster spot. We likely won’t know who the replacement will be until later this weekend.
In the meantime, the Brewers retain their hold on first place in the division despite losing two of three to the Reds. The Marlins are in town next, and the Brewers hope to pull off a series win here and maintain that division lead.
