Michael Blazek may get the start for the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday

14

The Milwaukee Brewers still have yet to officially announce who will get the start during Monday's game against the Orioles, filling the spot vacated by the injured Chase Anderson. It appears as though Michael Blazek may be one of the prime candidates for the call-up, however. Blazek has pitched parts of two seasons with Milwaukee as a reliever, but was mostly a starter coming up through the minor leagues utilizing his fastball/slider/curveball mix. He's been stretched out recently with Colorado Springs, starting 10 of his 20 appearances there and posting a 3.13 ERA/3.94 FIP with 52 strikeouts and 25 walks in 63.1 innings pitched. During their bullpen shuffling yesterday, the Brewers did clear a spot on the 40 man roster that could be used to select Blazek's contract if the club so chooses. His last start was on Thursday, which would line him up to make Monday's start on regular rest. (Statistics courtesy of Fangraphs)
