Michael Blazek to start for Milwaukee Brewers tomorrow in place of Matt Garza
The Brewers placed starter Matt Garza on the disabled list earlier this afternoon, recalling Lewis Brinson to take his place on the active roster. The team waited a bit to announce who would take Garza's turn in the rotation, though, and it turns out that it will be Michael Blazek. The mulleted 28 year old righty started in 10 of his 20 appearances for the AAA Sky Sox this season, posting a cumulative 3.63 ERA/4.89 DRA in 63.1 innings with 52 strikeouts and 25 walks. Blazek has made four appearances for the big league club this year, all in relief, and has worked 6.1 scoreless innings so far. This news means that Blazek won't be one of the candidates to be removed from the roster tomorrow when new reliever Anthony Swarzak is activated. (Statistics courtesy of Baseball Prospectus)
