The Milwaukee Brewers’ post-All Star break slide has put a damper on some of the trade rumors involving the team, but there’s still plenty of action going on around the league. Use this post to talk about the latest rumors and completed deals, debate whether the Brewers should make any more moves, or ponder the deeper meaning of life (we’re all prospects, when you think about it).
Some deals to be finalized this morning or late last night:
- One year after bringing back one of the biggest hauls of David Stearns’ tenure, old friend Jonathan Lucroy is headed to Colorado for just a player to be named later.
- The Cubs aren’t content with their 2.5-game lead over the Brewers, adding a veteran catcher to serve as their backup in Alex Avila and rumored Brewers target Justin Wilson. Chicago is sending 3B/1B Jeimer Candelario, SS Isaac Paredes, a PTBNL and cash to the Tigers.
- The Mets are sending reliever Addison Reed to the Red Sox for three prospects in Boston’s Top 30: pitchers Gerson Bautista, Jamie Callahan and Stephen Nogosek.
And no, the Brewers are not trading Lewis Brinson today.
Five hours to the nonwaiver Deadline. Heard this morning what others have suggested: Brewers are saying they won't move Lewis Brinson.
