Milwaukee Brewers confirm Jeremy Jeffress trade; designate Kirk Nieuwenhuis

32

The Milwaukee Brewers made only one move on deadline day this year, and it was a rather minor one. A year after trading Jeremy Jeffress (with Jonathan Lucroy) to the Texas Rangers, the Brewers reacquired the right-hander in a buy-low deal that Jaymes has more on here. The club confirmed that acquisition on Twitter this afternoon, announcing that Kirk Nieuwenhuis had been designated for assignment to create space on the active roster. The soon-to-be 30 year old outfielder's most recent stint with the big league club lasted 3 days and saw him collect a pinch hit in his lone plate appearance. This is the second time Captain Kirk has found himself in DFA limbo with the Brewers this season.
