With a win this afternoon, the Brewers would guarantee themselves sole position of first place at the All-Star break. No wonder, then, that the community (N = 65) shows no signs of breaking its optimism and support of what management is doing. While Craig Counsell gains a few points of support, he's still in the range of strong/regular approval that he's been in for a couple months. David Stearns, however, is threatening to break my chart as his strong approval hits a season high of 60%, with everyone else giving him regular approval; the acquisition of Stephen Vogt probably prompted that bump. We're also seeing a continued shift toward higher win and playoff expectations, though nobody has been willing to go over 90 wins yet. For the record, the Brewers are currently on a pace to win 87-88 games. Finally, there's a strong consensus that Travis Shaw got snubbed for All-Star consideration, but that Eric Thames didn't. Shaw's late surge probably contributes to this, and has moved him up the WAR leaderboard for NL third baseman. With any luck, he, Thames, and the rest of the non-Knebel Brewers spend their four days off getting supercharged for the remaining 70+ games of the regular season.
