Game Thread #91: Milwaukee Brewers (49-41) @ New York Yankees (45-40)

Milwaukee goes for the series win and an upbeat end to the first half

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Yankee starter Masahiro Tanaka (7-7, 5.25) has not had a good first half. His strikeout rate has jumped from 7.04 last year to 9 this, but his walk rate is also up - from 1.6 to 2.4. Most troubling, his HR rate has jumped from one per nine innings to two. Oddly, his xFIP is good - just 3.83. His WHIP is an OK 1.36, but a .315 BABIP has hurt.

Brewers' starter Jimmy Nelson has been on a roll, and comes in at 7-4 with a 3.20 ERA. I am oddly apprehensive about his performance today, but will hope for the best.
