Throughout the season, I've been wondering how much results on the tracking poll are a lagging indicator of both positive and negative developments -- that is, whether attitude change has to build up a lot before it appears in the numbers. It's sort of hard to tell, because the four weekly measures have mostly not had their big ups and big downs at the same time. This week, the community (N = 44) hit David Stearns hard, knocking him below majority strong approval for the first time since mid-June. However, Craig Counsell's approval barely moved and remains pretty much where it's been all year. Win and playoff expectations dropped, but just a touch. So maybe the Aaron Brooks pick-up pushed a bunch of people out of strong approval? One place where we see an easier to understand trend is in pace of game evaluations, where we've moved from 10% "too slow" in April to 30% today, 120+ games into the season. I'm sure Rob Manfred is very happy to know we're coming around.
