Do the Brewers shift too much?

Shifting was once, and perhaps still is, a mark of a progressive, stathead organization. However, as people have looked into the shift more recently there have been questions as to whether it is actually effective. The biggest piece of evidence that the shift is not working is the missing drop in league wide BABIP that one would assume accompanies improved defensive positioning. Many counter-argued that the shift was actually preventing a league wide increase in BABIP that should be happening along with the increase in power. Today, though, Russell Carleton came out with this article:

Baseball Therapy: Why The Shift Persists

I think he shows, fairly definitively, that teams shift too often. The Brewers shift more than any team in the league. It would seem to follow that the Brewers shift too much. Does anyone have any thoughts on the BP article or on the Brewers tendencies to shift?
