BBWAA of Milwaukee announces awards for 2018 Brewers

No surprises here.

Accolades are just starting for several of the Milwaukee Brewers and their management team. Of course, all of the accolades for team awards would be Brewers, now wouldn’t they?

Christian Yelich seems like a good bet for the National League MVP, and Josh Hader could very well be the NL’s top relief pitcher. Both were driving forces behind Milwaukee’s drive to within one game of the 2018 World Series.

Jhoulys Chacin outshone all of the more expensive pitching free agents, and even the under-the-radar starting pitchers, outside of the St. Louis Cardinals’ Miles Mikolas. The big righty looks to be a fixture for next season in the Crew’s rotation and could be someone they consider extending after his two-year deal expires in 2019.

With nobody to compete with them, I’ll give David Stearns and Craig Counsell the Milwaukee awards for executive and manager of the year. They both have a good chance of taking those awards leaguewide; indeed, Counsell has already shared the top spot (with Brian Snitker of the Atlanta Braves) for the Sporting News Manager of the Year, an award voted on by the managers of National League teams.

League awards are handed out in mid-November after the conclusion of the World Series. Stay tuned for more Brewer recognition!
