Milwaukee Brewers hire Jake McKinley as Pitching Coordinator

The young college coach will fill the vacant role Chris Hook left.

Philadelphia Phillies v Milwaukee Brewers

Jake McKinley has announced that he’s accepted a position as the Milwaukee Brewers minor league pitching coordinator. McKinley is leaving his position as head coach of the William Jessup Warriors for this role with the Crew.

The pitching coordinator position was left vacant after Milwaukee promoted now pitching coach Chris Hook to the position. The pitching coordinator is responsible for traveling the minor leagues to work with coaches and young pitchers on pitching plans and implementing organizational philosophies, among other things.

McKinley was named head coach of William Jessup in May of 2017. He helped the Warriors triple their win record in 2018, taking the university to a top-5 baseball team in the country. The team took the GSAC championship title and took them to the championship round of the NAIA.

Before his time with William Jessup, McKinley coach for Menlo College from 2013 to 2017, where he would have crossed paths with Lucas Erceg. He pitched for Bethany College and set many records — including the single season strikeout and ERA record — for the school.
