Brewers re-sign Quintin Berry to minor league deal

17

Well, it's not a big-name pitcher to answer the Cubs' signing of Yu Darvish, but the Brewers did announce a free agent signing on Monday.

Quintin Berry has made a career out of being a September call-up pinch-running specialist. He appeared in 7 games for the Brewers last year, and despite going 0-for-3 with 2 strikeouts with a bat in his hands, he did manage to pick up 2 stolen bases in 3 attempts. The one time he was caught stealing was after pinch-running for Jose Aguilar following a leadoff walk in Pittsburgh. The Brewers went on to still score 2 runs in the inning but lost 6-4 on a walkoff home run.

Berry will likely spend the regular season in Colorado Springs before making another appearance in September to try to steal a few more bases in late-inning spots.
