Box Score

After a successful game in the early afternoon, the Brewers had the chance to make it two in a row in Peoria against the Mariners. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out too well.

Brent Suter got a start today as he’s fighting for a spot on the team to start the season. Unfortunately, he had to face Mike Zunino, who has been playing very well lately. It continued again today with four hits, three of them going for home runs. That contributed to Suter’s bad day, as he gave up six runs, seven hits, and two walks in 4 23 innings, though he did strike out seven.

Meanwhile, the offense did have a good day. They recorded 12 hits, 10 of those coming off of Mariners starter Mike Leake. They also got 4 runs off of him in 6 innings. Jonathan Villar led the offense by getting on base three times (two hits and a walk), and drove in two runs as well. Christian Bethancourt also had two hits in the game, and the other eight hits were split among the rest of the team. All eight of the starting position players had a hit in the game.

Unfortunately, the Brewers couldn’t break through against the Mariners bullpen. They only managed two hits against the relievers in three innings. Meanwhile, the Brewers bullpen allowed a run and two hits in 3 13 innings. The lone run was charged to Yovani Gallardo, with Jeremy Jeffress and Nick Ramirez adding on scoreless appearances.

The Brewers are back at Maryvale tomorrow to take on the Royals at 3:05 pm. This is their last home game of the spring, as well as the last televised game until the start of the regular season. The game will be on Fox Sports Wisconsin, as well as MLB Network and the Brewers Radio Network.
