The Milwaukee Brewers of Maryvale (17-8-2) enter their final four games of the chase for the Cactus Cup with a 1 1⁄2 game lead over the Cubs (and 2 games over the Royals). Their last home game of the preseason has them hosting the Kansas City Royals of Surprise (15-10), with Zach Davies looking to fine tune his control and get ready for the second season. The Royals’ will go with righty Nate Karns. This will be Karns fourth start of the Cactus League season; he has a WHIP of 1.27, and ERA of 2.08, and 11 strikeouts over his 8 2⁄3 innings.
The Royals use the DH while Milwaukee continues to prep their pitchers for batting in the anachronistic National League.
BTW, today’s game is on the MLB Network, at least according to my program guide.
