Game Thread #1: Milwaukee Brewers @ San Diego Padres

The 2018 Championship Season begins!

BASEBALL! Time to dust off the TV and turn it back on, set the DVR in case you fall asleep (and with the pace of play at light-speed, that shouldn't happen anymore), and get ready for your hopes to be dashed - or your wildest dreams be realized.

The Brewers go with righty Chase Anderson for the away opener, and he will face the Pads' lefty Clayton Richard. Last season saw Anderson make a huge jump to the top of the rotation (or near the top) with a 12-4 record, a 2.74 ERA, and a WHIP of 1.09. Yowzers. Richard worked 197 1/3 innings as the Padres innings eater, with an 8-15 record, 4.79 ERA, and a 1.52 WHIP. Opponents hit .302 off of the staff ace.

As an added bonus, we shall see the long-awaited debut of the newest Brewers' first baseman, Ryan Braun.

I predict a game-winning RBI for Ji-Man Choi in an eighth inning pinch-hit appearance.

Poll

How many times will Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich get on base today? (Errors count; fielder's choices do not.)
