J.J. Hoover clears waivers, outrighted to Colorado Springs

4

J.J. Hoover's stint with the Milwaukee Brewers was a short one. Called up and added to the 40-man roster on April 7th, he appeared in one game, giving up the walkoff home run to Matt Carpenter in St. Louis that capped off the Three Blown Saves game, then was promptly DFA-ed to bring in more fresh arms to the bullpen.

He may get another shot to join the team this year, though, as minor league guru Jim Goulart of Brewerfan.net spotted that Hoover cleared waivers and was outrighted back to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Hoover is likely just another middle relief arm, but the Brewers do seem to like him and he's better than the one outing he had in the big leagues. Whether or not the roster space will be there later in the season to add him to the 40-man and call him up again remains to be seen, but for now he'll go back to providing organizational depth in an area that will need it if current bullpen usage rates continue.
