As was widely speculated yesterday, the Brewers brought Ji-Man Choi back up from the AAA Sky Sox and placed right handed starter Zach Davies on the Disabled List.

Also in the announcement is the retention of Jett Bandy. Bandy was designated for assignment when Milwaukee traded for Erik Kratz a week ago to take over the back-up catching duties. Bandy passed through waivers and will go to AAA to provide further depth at catcher for the Brewers’ system.
Davies has struggled with command and lost velocity since returning from an earlier stay on the disabled list, with two starts totaling nine innings, with fourteen hits and nine runs, all earned. He has walked five. That’s a 9.00 ERA, and a WHIP of 1.56. Davies has been experiencing shoulder pain for over a month now.
This is Choi’s third stint with the major league roster, after starting the season with the club and recently covering for an injured Ryan Braun. For the season, Choi has slashed .267/.353/.600 with two doubles and a homer in fifteen at bats. At Colorado Springs Ji-man has 163 plate appearances with nine doubles and five homers. His slash line is .302/.436/.488. For more about some potential drama within the Milwaukee organization, read Kyle’s article here.
