Milwaukee Brewers pick Brice Turang 21st overall in the MLB Draft

The high school shortstop is ranked as one of the safer prospects in the draft.

With their first pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, the Milwaukee Brewers select shortstop Brice Turang. The high school lefty has been scouted for years and many analysts believe he suffered from “prospect fatigue” causing him to fall in the draft.

According to MLB Pipeline, Turang is above average in every tool but his power. He can likely stick at short with good speed and an advanced feel for fielding. Turang also hits the ball all over and shows gap power. He’ll never be a home run hitter, but he can certainly be a .300 hitter with 30 stolen bases a year.

MLB ranked Turang as the 25th best prospect and Baseball America ranked him at 14.

Milwaukee will make its next selection with the 60th pick in the draft, their second of three picks on the first day of the draft.
