The Milwaukee Brewers made catcher David Fry their 7th round selection in the 2018 MLB Draft earlier this afternoon, selecting the 22 year old after a stellar four-year career at Northwestern State University.

Fry has long been regarded one of the top prospects in the Southland Conference and is one of the top players in his school’s history. Fry was a four-time all-conference selection and was named the league’s Player of the Year in 2018 after batting .327/.440/.604 with 12 home runs, 26 doubles, and three triples in 62 games. Fry was also named top first baseman in the conference, but the Brewers announced him as a catcher when he was selected. To his credit, Fry says that he worked on his receiving all through the season and caught some games in the regional tournament and that he feels comfortable behind the plate.
