Brewers option Orlando Arcia again, call up Aaron Wilkerson

19

Needing a fresh arm after Saturday afternoon’s bashing at Great American Ballpark, the Brewers are bringing up Aaron Wilkerson ahead of Sunday’s series finale in Cincinnati. Wilkerson has been getting good results for Colorado Springs so far this year, with a 2.08 ERA in 8 games (7 starts). He’s struggled with control at times, though, which may be expected after the late start to his season. He’s walked 17 batters in 34.2 innings, but has struck out 29. Arcia continued to badly struggle offensively in the past month despite his first short stint at Triple-A. Quickly recalled when Tyler Saladino went down with his ankle injury, Arcia only managed a .203/.227/.203 line during his second chance to stake a claim for his starting job. With Eric Sogard back on the major league roster and the addition of Brad Miller, it seems likely that Lando’s second stint in Triple-A will last longer than a few days.
