Brewers option Jacob Barnes to make room for Joakim Soria

The Brewers' newest bullpen piece will be with the team tonight in San Francisco, a day after being acquired for Kodi Medeiros and Wilber Perez.

No word yet on how Soria will be used out of the bullpen, but with Josh Hader, Jeremy Jeffress and Corey Knebel all pitching Thursday night -- including a stressful four-out save for Knebel -- it wouldn't be a surprise to see Soria make it into the game tonight.

Barnes heads back to Triple-A after putting up 0's in his last two appearances. His ERA for the season took a beating after back-to-back rough outings against the Braves earlier this month, but largely pitched out after those outings. Soria's addition means Barnes likely joins the Colorado Springs Shuttle group at the bottom of the bullpen totem pole.

Barnes won't be the only one re-joining the Sky Sox. The Brewers' Player Development Twitter account announced Eric Sogard is coming back to the organization after signing a new minor-league contract.
