Rumors connecting the Brewers to Baltimore starter Kevin Gausman started to pop up a few days ago.
It looks like that’s continuing as we inch closer to one hour before the trade deadline, according to a couple of the usual trade rumor names.
teams are showing signs of getting serious about Kevin gausman. rockies, braves, brewers are among teams interested.

The #Brewers are one big team everyone is waiting on at the deadline. Seem almost certain to get a starter from a group of Archer, Gausman, Harvey and maybe a couple of others.

Gausman has largely been a disappointment in Baltimore, with the results never quite matching up with the front of the rotation-type stuff and velocity. The hope is getting him out of a dysfunctional organization that has had bad luck with pitching prospects could lead to a renaissance somewhere else — similar to what Jake Arrieta saw in Chicago when he left Baltimore.
Gausman would be under team control through 2020 if a deal was made.
A possible issue in trade negotiations is that Baltimore is notoriously meticulous when it comes to reviewing medical records before a trade and has backed out of deals in the past because of it. Considering all paperwork has to be reviewed and submitted to the league before 3 p.m. CDT, that might be a cause for concern.
But if you’re into reading into ambiguous tweets — and hey, it’s July 31st, so we all are — there is this note from a Baltimore reporter:
Orioles are close enough along with another trade that medicals are being reviewed. You know how that goes. Don't know names. I just know it isn't Jones.

The Brewers’ previous interest in Manny Machado may be something that works in their favor for a potential deal, though, since the Orioles would conceivably already have an idea of who they like in the Milwaukee system.
Should be an interesting final hour.
