It's been a challenging year for Zach Davies, and it looks like he'll have to wait at least another week before he can possibly return to the major league roster.
He hasn't appeared in an MLB game since May 29 and has only made 8 starts for the Brewers all year due to a variety of shoulder and back injuries, setbacks and generally disappointing rehab outings.
In his last outing for Colorado Springs, Davies only made it through 3.2 innings while allowing 4 runs and walking 5 batters.
Minor league injury rehab assignments are limited to 30 days for pitchers, so this will be the last chance for Davies to get right before the Brewers will be forced to make a decision on to activate him. While a healthy and effective Zach Davies would be a big help to the current rotation, it's a valid question if we'll see that at all this year, or if the Brewers would trust Davies with Major League starts given the tight playoff race.
