Tonight’s ballgame at Wrigley Field between the Milwaukee Brewers (83-63) and the Chicago Cubs (84-60) will conclude the regular season matchups between the two. The winner will take this final three-game set with two wins and leave will Milwaukee either one game back or three games back with just 15 games left, at least for the Brewers. The Cubs will have 17 left, and one of the extra games left will be played tomorrow afternoon despite a rather large hew and cry from the Cubs organization.
The Cards fell 4-3 to the Pirates (leaving the tying and winning runners on base when Matt Carpenter took a called strike three on a 3-2 pitch), so Milwaukee’s lead is back up to two games over them for the first Wild Card slot. The Dodgers topped Cincy and so are currently four back of the Crew.
The Brewers will face the Cubs’ right-handed starter, Kyle Hendricks (12-11, 3.71), while Chase Anderson (9-7, 3.97) goes for the Brewers. You’ll see a very different lineup for Milwaukee because of that.
