Craig Counsell announced today that new Brewer Gio Gonzalez will replace struggling righty Junior Guerra for Saturday’s contest with the visiting San Francisco Giants at Miller Park:
#Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Gio Gonzalez will start Saturday in place of Junior Guerra.

Juni G’s last three starts have totaled 9.2 innings with 23 hits and 5 walks, and 17 runs allowed (12 earned), so the move isn’t a surprise.
It isn’t like Gonzalez comes into the start on a hot streak; HIS last three starts went 16.2 innings that resulted in 15 runs (all earned) on 23 hits and zero strikeouts. None. (Ed. : Gio had thirteen K’s, which is much better. Need to double check my columns when looking at numbers.) Which doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence that the Brewers will have a big uptick in effectiveness on the mound.
Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness.
