As reported earlier this week, the Brewers are calling up Freddy Peralta and Taylor Williams to add two more arms to the bullpen during the final few weeks of the season. The team made the moves official this morning ahead of their series finale against the San Francisco Giants.

Both Peralta and Williams were optioned to the minors on August 30th, meaning they had to wait until today after their minimum 10-day stint to be re-added to the active as September call-ups.
The team has already said that Peralta is done making starts for this year, but his fastball-heavy approach could translate well to a relief role, and he’d be an option to pitch multiple innings if the need arose.
Williams will give the Brewers another arm to work with in the middle innings, which may be useful today with Josh Hader likely still unavailable for the final game of the Giants series (and even if he wasn’t, Craig Counsell likely would want to avoid using him today anyway to ensure he could possibly make multiple appearances in the upcoming series against the Cubs) and Jeremy Jeffress also likely off-limits after a heavy workload Saturday night and working back-to-back games.
