After treading water for most the 2019 regular season, the Milwaukee Brewers treated their fans to another unforgettable run in September. Despite losing MVP runner-up Christian Yelich along the way, the team rallied together and sprinted to a 20-7 finish during the final month and captured the National League’s second Wild Card slot with 89 wins. Fans of the franchise can be grateful that they were treated to back-to-back postseason appearances for the first time since 1981-82.
As a staff, we are all thankful for the community that we have that truly makes this site great. Today on Thanksgiving, we wanted to share with you all some things we are thankful for:
David Gibson
First of all, I am thankful to have a partner in life as wonderful as my wife and two boys that make life worth living in a way I never realized was possible before they were born. I am also thankful that the Brewers are not just a competitive team, but a contending team that seems to be focused on winning year over year. Finally I’m thankful to the BCB staff and community for accepting me into the fold over the past year. It has been a fun ride.

I’m thankful that David Stearns always does something interesting. For three consecutive seasons, we’ve had insane trades, signings and moves that have made this team more interesting. It’s awesome to have a team that excited you all season long.

I’m thankful to have family and friends around me that care about me and want to see me flourish in life. I’m also thankful for the passion I have for watching the Brewers, and to have a team that’s been doing well enough to magnify that.

I’m thankful to have gained a big picture perspective when it comes to a lot of things — work, my personal life, and yes, even the sports teams I follow — that allows me to find areas of possible improvement but not get bogged down by day-to-day lows or set unrealistic expectations from day-to-day highs. I’m thankful for friends and family who have been there for me through good and bad, and that also goes for my extended “online family” of fellow fans I’ve come to know through twitter and the blog.

Above all, I am thankful for my beautiful and loving wife (it’s her birthday today! Send her kind thoughts) and the wonderful family and life that we have created and share together. I am thankful for the newest addition that we welcomed into our world in October, and we are truly blessed that baby Betty and our three older children were all born healthy without any issues and continue to be healthy, happy, growing, and thriving.
I am thankful for the continued opportunity to manage Brew Crew Ball and everything that this job has allowed me to do. I am thankful for all the players that I have been able to meet, interview, get to know, and watch as their careers unfold. I am thankful for the media opportunities that this position has afforded me. I am beyond grateful for the four seasons that I was able to watch Junior Guerra pitch for the team big league team that plays in my hometown. And finally, I am thankful that a new professional baseball franchise — the Milkmen of the independent American Association — has come to the greater Milwaukee, a team that provides an affordable and engaging experience that my children and I have truly enjoyed, and one that I think will help them grow to love the game as much as I do.
Happy holiday, everyone! Thank you for reading, commenting, and fanposting along with all of us at Brew Crew Ball.
What are you thankful for on this day?
