The Silver Slugger is the offensive Gold Glove. It is awarded to the best offensive player at each position in the American League and National League. Recipients are voted on by coaches and managers.
Christian Yelich was one of three NL outfielders to win the award, alongside Atlanta Brave Ronald Acuña and Los Angeles Dodger Cody Bellinger. Yelich was a pretty easy pick for his third Silver Slugger overall. He lead all NL outfielders with a 174 wRC+, tied Bellinger with a 7.8 WAR and led the NL in average, OBP and slugging.
Yelich, of course, won the Silver Slugger last year with his MVP, but he also won one in 2016, the year before Milwaukee traded for him. He adds those two trophies to his mantle that includes two Hank Aaron Awards for best offensive player in the NL, the MVP and a Gold Glove.
The only other award Yelich is up for is the MVP, which will be announced on Thursday, Nov. 14.
