The Cactus League season has yet to be kind to the Brew Crew in terms of wins and losses in 2019. The Brewers have a chance to get back on track today as they play two games in split squad action. The San Francisco Giants will send their team of baseball players to American Family Fields of Phoenix to face half of the Brewers. The other half of Milwaukee’s team will go to Cincinnati’s Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, Arizona.
Both games will be of interest to Brewers’ fans as Freddy Peralta will toe the rubber against the Giants and Brandon Woodruff will pitch against the Reds. We also should get our first looks at “should have been” gold glover winner, Lorenzo Cain and National League MVP, Christian Yelich as well as a multitude of other Brewer regulars.
#Brewers have two of their young pitching candidates going on the same day today. Freddy Peralta pitches in the split-squad game at home vs. Giants and Brandon Woodruff goes against Cincy in Goodyear. Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain slated to play in the home game, I believe.

San Francisco will send Chris Stratton to the mound, and he will face what looks to be a formidable lineup. Obviously Cain and Yelich see their first action of Spring Training. Stratton and the rest of the Giants pitching staff will have their hands full with more than that though. Travis Shaw and Eric Thames bring their left handed thump, and once again, Keston Hiura and Brewers Cactus League MVP to this point, Corey Ray bring their young talent into this match up.
Peralta will face a line up of a few major leaguers as well. Peralta will get practice working to improve his performance against left handed hitters as he will have to face Brandon Belt and former Brewers catcher, Stephen Vogt. Other possible noteworthy names for this Giants squad are Mac Williamson and Cameron Maybin.

Cincinnati will throw Tony Santillan. He will face some formidable Brewers’ hitters as well. Santillan and the rest of the Reds pitching staff will have to maneuver around Yasmani Grandal, Jesus Aguilar, and Mike Moustakas. Younger players of note to play for the Brewers in this match up include Tyrone Taylor and Troy Stokes Jr. Brandon Woodruff will face what amounts to the Reds everyday regular season lineup. Joey Votto, Matt Kemp, Eugenio Suarez, Yasiel Puig, and Scooter Gennett (who probably wants every opportunity to let Milwaukee know they made a mistake) all are scheduled to play in this match up.
