Mariners defeat Brewers 7-3; Corbin Burnes gives up 5 runs

The early spring struggles continued for the Brewers as they faced the Mariners this afternoon in Peoria. Corbin Burnes made the start and only went 1.1 innings, facing 11 batters and allowing five of them to score. That built an early 5-0 lead for the Mariners, one that the Brewers couldn’t overcome.

The rest of the pitching staff was more stable. Jake Petricka pitched 1.2 innings and struck out four of the six batters he faced. Adrian Houser also pitched 1.2 innings, with two strikeouts and two walks in the game. Deolis Guerra and Bobby Wahl each allowed a run in their appearances. Luke Barker and Rodrigo Benoit each allowed added a scoreless 13 inning

The Brewers did hit three home runs to account for their scoring in the game. Cory Spangenberg hit his second home run of the spring in the sixth inning of the game. Two batters later, Hernan Perez hit his second home run of the spring for the Brewers second run of the game. Trent Grisham added his first home run of the spring to account for the third run for the Brewers. Tyler Saladino and Tyrone Taylor also recorded hits in the game.

One injury note from the game: Bobby Wahl suffered a right leg injury and will need an MRI:

Game nine of the spring will take place tomorrow afternoon. Milwaukee will put out their nine-man lineup against the Cubs in Mesa, with Chase Anderson scheduled to make the start. First pitch is at 2:05 pm and the game will be on the radio.
