Rangers down Brewers, 3-2

Brewers’ offense rallies in the sixth, but falls just short

The past couple of days have proven busy for Chase Anderson. Yesterday, he and his wife, Anna, welcomed their second child into the world. Today Anderson took the mound against the Texas Rangers. To this point, Spring Training has been and up and down affair for Anderson. Today he pitched decently. He pitched four innings, giving up two runs on six hits (all singles), striking out four. Most importantly, no Rangers’ hitter homered off of him. Junior Guerra replaced Anderson and pitched a scoreless fifth inning, striking out two. Alex Claudio took the sixth and gave up a run on a Willie Calhoun single making the score 3-0. If Anderson can contain his issues with the long ball, he will be an effective out getter.

The all-to-familiar Lance Lynn took the bump for the Texas Rangers. The lineup the Brew Crew sent out to face former Cardinals’ innings eater was the starting lineup most of the time in 2019, barring injury. That lineup was unable to muster anything through five innings, but did get things rolling in the sixth.

Lynn hit Ryan Braun with a pitch. Braun was lifted for pitch runner Nate Orf who went to third on a single by Travis Shaw. Lucas Erceg replaced Shaw as a pitch runner, and Lynn was lifted for relief pitcher, Jordan Romano. Jesus Aguilar doubled off Romano, scoring Erceg. At the end of six innings, the score was 3-2.

Matt Albers pitched a scoreless seventh. Jacob Barnes pitched a scoreless eighth. Taylor Williams pitched a scoreless ninth. Unfortunately the Brewers failed to score in any of those innings. Rangers beat the Brewers 3-2, making the Brew Crew 13-12 in Cactus League Play.

Milwaukee will face off against the San Diego Padres at Peoria Stadium in Peoria, Arizona. Maybe the Brewers will get to see the Padres big free agent signing this time around. The game begins at 3:10 pm CST, and it will be televised on Fox Sports Wisconsin.
