Today’s game was the Cactus League finale for the Milwaukee Brewers, and since most of the regulars were already en route to Montreal for the two-game exhibition series with the Blue Jays, the lineup against that was trotted out to face the Diamondbacks featured prospects galore.
Mauricio Dubon had a hit. Troy Stokes had a triple and an RBI. Lucas Erceg and Jacob Nottingham both added hits. Mario Feliciano had an RBI groundout. Trent Grisham had the best day of them all, rapping two doubles, including one that drove home the game-winning run in the seventh inning.
Number two starter Freddy Peralta took the ball to begin things for the Maryvale Nine and he tossed 3.1 innings with one run allowed on three hits. He walked a single batter while punching out six. Matthew Hardy finished out the fourth inning scoreless after Peralta ran up against his pitch limit. Chase Anderson pitched two scoreless innings in his bullpen re-debut, and Matt Albers also threw a scoreless frame. Jake Petricka had a little bit of trouble in his inning with two hits, a walk, and a run allowed, but Jon Olczak closed things out with a scoreless ninth inning to secure the 3-2 victory over Arizona.
Milwaukee concludes their Cactus League slate with 18 wins, 13 losses, and two draws. Their quest to defend the Cactus Cup falls one half-game shy of the league champion Kansas City Royals. Tomorrow night’s tilt against the Blue Jays is set to begin at 6:05 PM CT, with Brandon Woodruff scheduled to begin the game against Sam Gaviglio.
