The Milwaukee Brewers lost their final 2019 Spring Training game 2-0 to the Toronto Blue Jays. While a loss is always disappointing, real games begin tomorrow!
Corbin Burnes got the start for the Brew Crew. He went 3.2 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five. The last third of the inning was a clean out by Miguel Sanchez.
The offense was dead silent throughout the game. Brewers hitters accumulated five hits. Three were singles off the bats of Christian Yelich, Jesus Aguilar and Mike Moustakas. All finished with spring averages well above .300 and OPS over .900.
Aside from Burnes, Zack Brown also had a good outing. Unfortunately, that included giving up the games’ only runs. He allowed just one hit over his first two innings, then ran into trouble in the seventh. Eric Sogard drove in a run with the bases loaded and a second run came around to score on a throwing error by Keston Hiura.
The season officially gets underway Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Jhoulys Chacin will take the mound against Mike Mikolas. First pitch is at 1:10 p.m.
