Aguilar goes deep for a second consecutive night

MLB: Colorado Rockies at Milwaukee Brewers Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Colorado and Milwaukee got together for the second of four this evening. The story of this game was pitching. Jhoulys Chacin started on the mound for the Brew Crew. German Marquez started the game for the Rockies.

Chacin was extremely effective. When his night was finished, Chacin had pitched six scoreless, giving up just two hits while striking out just one. Don’t worry though, someone else would come in a strike out plenty of Rockies.

For much of the game, the Rockies pitcher was even better than Chacin. Marquez was perfect through five. But Ben Gamel would get to him in the sixth with a double to left. Orlando Arcia followed with a bunt that was fielded by first baseman, Daniel Murphy. To field the ball, Murphy vacated the base, and no one was able to cover the bag. As a result, Arcia got credit for a single and Gamel advanced to third. Ryan Braun pinch hit for Chacin and hit into a double play. Gamel was able to score the first run of the game.

The bottom of the seventh proved positive for the Brew Crew. Yasmani Grandal started things off with a single to center. Travis Shaw followed with a single of his own to left. Jesus Aguilar brought everyone home with a three-run blast over the right field wall.

Junior Guerra took over for Chacin pitching the seventh and eighth innings. He was impressive to say the least as the Rockies were unable to touch him. Colorado sent six batters to the plate against Guerra, and each of those batters struck out. Guerra came out to attempt to close out the Rockies in the ninth. He got the first out of the inning, but he walked Daniel Murphy. Nolan Arenado next doubled scoring Murphy.

That would be it for Guerra as he was replaced by Josh Hader. Hader started things off with a strike out of Ryan McMahon. Ian Desmond made things interesting though with a two run bomb to get the Rockies within one. Unfortunately home runs are becoming a problem for the person many have said is/was the best reliever in the game. Hader was able to strike out Mark Reynolds to end the game and the late-inning scare by the Rockies.

The Brewers and Rockies are back at it tomorrow. Game time is 6:40 CT. Antonio Senzatela will take the mound for the Rockies. Chase Anderson will do the same for Milwaukee. The game can be heard on WTMJ and watched on Fox Sports Wisconsin.
